On June 24, Velia Govaere, OCEX coordinator, was invited to participate in the "Summer School program International Trade at the Crossroads: Where to Go from Here?" aimed at students from Baku University, young trade professionals and institutional representatives from Azerbaijan.
The session was entitled "International trade at the crossroads: Where to go from here?" and presented the trade policy experiences of a select group of countries, amongst them Costa Rica, in an effort to showcase their successes, challenges and learnings gained through 40 years of trade liberalization.
In this session, Govaere shared the Costa Rican experience of a small, developing Central American country that represents an emblematic example of openness. In this discussion of best practices, she was together with representatives from a select number of developed and developing countries, such as Magdi Farahat (Egypt), Yuriy Rudyuk (Belgium/European Union), Gustav Brink (South Africa) and Gary Horlick (United States), and moderated by trade specialist Marius Bordalba.
We make available to our users the presentation of Costa Rica's trade policies entitled "Costa Rica's Experience in International Trade: Successes, Weaknesses and Lessons Learned", which you will find at the following link:(download here).
